How to do it
- Sit-ups are a classic abdominal exercise that targets the muscles in your core, particularly the rectus abdominis and obliques.
- Starting Position:
- Lie down on your back on a flat surface, such as a mat or the floor. Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the ground, hip-width apart. Keep your hands crossed over your chest or place them behind your head, avoiding any strain on your neck.
- Move: Tighten your abdominal muscles to engage your core. This provides stability to your spine during the movement.
- Lift your upper body off the ground by flexing your abdominal muscles.
- Keep your lower back on the ground throughout the movement to avoid strain.
- Continue the upward movement until your chest is as close to your knees as comfortably possible. Exhale as you reach the top of the movement.
- Slowly lower your upper body back down to the starting position, controlling the descent.
