Privacy
The short version: this site has no accounts, no sign-up, no contact form and no server-side record of you. Analytics runs only if you accept the banner, and declining costs you nothing.
Who is responsible
Dmytro Shvaher is the data controller for this website. Contact: shvagerfm@gmail.com.
What the site does not do
- No account, login or profile. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No contact form. The contact page is a plain email link, so a message you send is an email between you and the address above — this site never receives or stores it.
- No advertising, no ad networks, no cross-site tracking, no data sold or shared.
- No newsletter, and no attempt to identify you. The pages are static files; reading one tells the site nothing beyond what any web server logs.
What your browser keeps
Two things, both stored locally on your own device, neither readable by this site’s operator and neither sent anywhere:
- bestronger.consent — Your answer to the cookie banner. So the banner is asked once rather than on every page, and so analytics stays off until you say yes.
- bestronger.water — The glasses you have logged today, and the day they belong to. So the water tracker survives a reload. It never leaves your browser.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes both. Doing so also forgets your cookie choice, so the banner asks once more.
Analytics, and only with consent
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It is loaded only after you accept the cookie banner. Until then — and permanently, if you decline — Google’s consent signals are set to denied, no analytics cookies are written and no measurement request is sent.
If you accept, Google Analytics processes:
- the pages you visit on this site, when, and the page that referred you to it;
- your approximate location, derived from your IP address and no finer than city level. Google truncates the IP and does not store it;
- your device, browser, operating system, screen size and language, as a rough description rather than an identifier;
- a randomly generated identifier in the _ga and _ga_* cookies, so one person reading three pages is counted once. It is not linked to a name, an email or anything you did elsewhere.
The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), and you can withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Google acts as a processor and may transfer data to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Google’s own description is in its privacy policy and business data terms. Data is retained for 14 months and then deleted.
Your browser’s own “Do Not Track” or global privacy control is honoured as a decline: if it is set, consent defaults to denied and the banner does not need an answer for analytics to stay off.
Fonts, images and the server
- Fonts are self-hosted. The typeface is built into the site at deploy time, so loading a page makes no request to Google Fonts.
- Exercise images come from a content delivery network at be-stronger-2.web.app, which the apps also use. Fetching an image reveals your IP address to that host, as fetching any image on the web does. App icons on the apps pages are served by Google’s store CDN for the same reason.
- Server logs. The host that serves these pages keeps standard request logs — IP address, time, page, browser — for security and debugging. That is the hosting provider’s processing, on the legitimate-interest basis of keeping the site up, and it is not combined with anything above.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and asks nothing of them. It publishes exercise descriptions; it collects nothing that could identify a child.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask for access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, object to its processing, ask for it to be restricted or ported, and complain to your national supervisory authority. In practice there is very little to exercise these against here: this site holds no file on you. The one exception is analytics, and only if you accepted — write to shvagerfm@gmail.com and it will be deleted from the property. Declining the banner, or clearing your site data, removes it from your side immediately.
Changes
The date at the top is the last substantive change. If a change affects what is collected, the consent banner will ask again rather than assume an old answer still applies.
This page covers this website. Each app has its own policy, on its page under “Privacy & Policy” — the apps handle workout history and device permissions, which a website does not.
